Founded in 2017, Aeraluxe was inspired by the need for a respirator mask that was both aesthetic and functional. We noted that although most masks on the market can suffice in reasonable air quality conditions (AQI below 50), they do not fair well at higher levels. New Delhi, November 2016, during one of the worst air quality periods in their history with an AQI reaching 999 (unreadable), and the government closing 5000 schools due to hazardous air pollution levels, even the most popular masks could not handle the smog.  San Francisco Bay Area 2017, the wildfires that destroyed most of wine country, released 10,000 tons of PM 2.5– one years worth of car pollution in one week. The air quality was so unbearable that a short walk from the parking lot to the hospital I worked left me feeling noxious, despite wearing another popular mask. With that, and many other incidences in mind, Aeraluxe was created.
